Strengthen Partnerships

Public Education is the heart of every community. So when our schools start to suffer, the entire community feels the effects.

The bottom line: we need more funding. Our district is facing a $32+ million deficit while also experiencing rapid growth. We need innovative solutions. Ones that support teachers and students while also managing costs. That is why I am advocating for a four-day school week.

This model has been successfully implemented in districts across the country with research findings indicating cost savings, improved teacher retention, and greater student engagement.

The results: more funding for programs like our special education and full-day Pre-K, reduced teacher burnout, and improved instruction.

As a school board member, I will work to encourage strategic conversations surrounding food services for our most vulnerable populations. I will also advocate for Denton ISD to provide childcare programs for our Pre-K through 5th grade students at a competitive rate, which would generate income back into the district.

Transportation costs are expected to decrease while student engagement and achievement are expected to increase. This model supports the mental health and wellbeing of teachers and students while also saving the district millions.

During this time of uncertainty, it is going to take the entire community to secure the future of public education. So let’s take a new approach and start the conversation surrounding how we can do what’s best for all teachers, all students, and all parents.

I’m Dr. Phylicia Anderson. If this vision resonates with you, I would be honored to have earned your support.
