Restore Trust in Educators
The African Proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child.”
As a wife, mother of four, educator with more than 13 years of experience, and a 16-year member of the Denton ISD community, I know first hand the challenges currently facing our district.
That is why I am committed to continuing my service to the profession as a member of the Denton ISD school board, where I will be committed to strengthening the teacher, student, and parent relationship through critical conversations surrounding literacy development and mental health awareness.
One of the biggest challenges facing our students is mental health. If elected, I will advocate for trauma-informed classrooms. These critical conversations would allow teachers to collaborate with counselors, administrators, and parents concerning the services needed to support students dealing with challenges outside of the classroom.
However, students are also struggling with literacy development, making it harder to succeed in all subjects. Therefore, I will also advocate for evidence-based strategies that can be implemented across all content areas. These strategies will focus on college and career pathways, while also reflecting students’ identities and experiences.
As a parent, educator, and member of this community, I will advocate for policies that rally the village. Together, we can support educators, engage families, and create equitable opportunities for all students represented within the district.
I'm Dr. Phyliciá Anderson. If this vision resonates with you, I would be honored to have earned your trust and support.
